Chocolate & coconut bliss balls

I was born in Sweden and even though there aren´t many things I remember from the food there, I remember "chokladbollar" and every time I go back to Sweden I have at least 1, or 10. Here is a slightly healthier version than the traditional recipe that contains a truckload of butter & sugar. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do! 


12 small balls


10 pitted Medjool dates

4-5 tablespoons of raw cacao powder (depending on how chocolatey you want them!)

1 teaspoon of almond butter (no sugar, no nothing but almonds)

3 tablespoons of coconut oil

2 tablespoons of gluten free oats

A pinch of pink himalayan salt

Half a cup of coconut shavings


Put all the ingredients apart from the coconut into the blender and mix well. I like my chocolate balls to be very chocolatey so I put in 5 tablespoons of cacao but start with 4, taste and add more if required.

Once you have a smooth paste, roll them into small chocolate balls.

Roll the balls in the coconut until they are evenly coated and stick them in the freezer.

Remove. Eat. Be grateful.


I generally keep them in the freezer and only take them out a few minutes before eating or I take out 2 or 3 every morning and stick them in the fridge as they keep longer in the freezer than in the fridge!
