I discovered these at a Yoga festival in Costa Rica last year and I couldn´t believe they were actually made of beans! If someone had told me before I would never have eaten them but they tasted soooo good! I had one every day and started making them myself after i left! Everybody loves them and no one can guess they are made of black beans!


2/3 cup cooked or canned black beans

2,5 teaspoons of coconut oil

2 tablespoons of cocoa powder 

1/2 tablespoon of pure maple syrup

a small pinch of salt

1/4 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract

A pinch of pure stevia

For the chocolate coating:

A block of extra dark chocolate (70% cocoa content minimum)

1 tablespoon of coconut oil to melt


Rinse beans and drain VERY well! This is important!

Combine all the ingredients in a blender and blend until it´s completely smooth

Refrigerate so the coconut oil hardens and the mixture is firm. 

Roll the mixture into individual balls with your hands.

Melt the extra dark chocolate in the coconut oil and gently dip the chilled balls into the chocolate, then immediately return them to the fridge!

Store in a covered container for up to a week. Or stick some in the freezer but make sure they are fully thawed before eating them!
